This course will introduce you to a world of fashion. Course contents include; an introduction to fashion drawing and concept of the 9 head figure. Basic clothing design and pattern making. Conventional sewing techniques and the various characteristics and properties of various fabrics. You will also spend some time on the history of both fashion and costume design. Your final modules will focus on one larger project where you will design and develop patterns for your own garment. You will also learn to digitize your designs with an accessible open source software.

Part Time Face to Face Learning:

  • 8 sessions per module, 1hr 45min each, 4 times per week for 16 weeks

Ultimately you will be able to design and create garments for any figure type, using appropriate fabric and construction techniques. If you are already an avid seamstress and are looking to expand your skill set to pattern design this course is perfectly suited to you. If you have never seen before this course will teach you how to sew and will take you through the process step by step.
