Become an expert in sound production and produce your own music
In the Diploma of Sound Production course you will hone your skills as DJ, composer, sound designer and/or sound producer.
You may have already completed the Certificate IV in Sound Production – either full-time, part-time or via the fast track option.
Melbourne Polytechnic’s sound studios (at Fairfield and Prahran) are fully equipped to allow you to specialise in producing electronic music and sound for commercial release, live performance, theatre, film and television.
You will explore writing and producing original music and/or the work of other musicians. You will also manage the creation and installation of sound designs.
Industry connections and resources
This course will set you up for your music career. Students in the course are often invited to work on shows and events produced by other student groups —on campus and in the related Industry.
Your teachers have industry currency and actively participate in the music industry, often having their own studios and recording facilities.
Melbourne Polytechnic is an Avid Training Provider. Students have the opportunity to become Pro Tools Certified Operators.
On completion of the Diploma of Sound Production you will have developed an excellent understanding of compositional techniques using electronic media, and an understanding of recording, editing and mixing. You will have acquired skills in sound synthesis, composition and arrangement, along with recording and mixing, making you very suitable for work in music, multimedia, and in recording.
