Introduction
This cycle of conferences will offer a journey through the major works of French literature, allowing the discovery or rediscovery of emblematic texts, the bases of a common culture. Particular attention will be paid to works that caused a stir during their creation and which have a persistent topicality. We will thus question what makes a classic, by considering the various ways in which literary productions play with aesthetic codes and shape models – from the Renaissance to the contemporary era. Each conference will consider a particular period of French literature.
