Almost all the work is conducted outside, working with a variety of tools and machinery. And, if you choose to climb trees, you can have your very own natural “office” with a view every day. Gateway’s Arboriculture/Urban Forestry Technician associate degree provides the hands-on skills and natural resource education for graduates to enter this exciting career field of arborists, urban foresters and related occupations. It offers family-sustaining wages and year-round work with private, corporate or government landowners.

The Architectural and Engineering Technology Department offers vocational and paraprofessional programs in architectural and engineering technology as well as preparation for transfer to four- and five-year architecture programs.

This program explores architecture through cultural, environmental, and social relevance while understanding and addressing critical issues facing the built environment. Innovative design, critical analysis, and communication skills are developed in drawing, writing, modeling, and collaboration. Students completing the AS degree may apply for transfer to a university program in architecture, interior architecture, or environmental design, or obtain an entry-level position in the same fields.

The Architectural Technology Associate of Science degree is intended to prepare students with a broad perspective of Architecture, design and local general education requirements to utilize in gaining employment in Architecture or any of the related fields in the building industry where they will be involved to produce plans, but may also contribute in the design and construction administration of various building typologies. Individuals completing this degree may also choose to continue their education toward a baccalaureate, or advanced degree in Architecture or related majors.

Taught by experienced, dynamic faculty, the Urban Studies Program offers an intellectually rigorous foundation in the disciplines that focus on contemporary city life, urban culture, and urbanization, emphasizing equality, diversity, inclusion, environmental sustainability, and social justice.

Land Economy is the study of the use, development and management of the environment, land and other natural resources. At its core, it has the disciplines of Law and Economics and their application to the environment, broadly defined.

The Architectural Technology curriculum provides individuals with knowledge and skills that can lead to employment in the field of architecture or one of the associated professions.

Massasoit’s Architectural Technology program is designed for students to develop marketably and a wide variety of skills within building design professions.

This degree program will give you a fundamental understanding of the planning, design and erection of buildings. The degree can be used to begin a path toward a career as a licensed architect.

Architecture graduates assist architects and others in preparing design and working drawings, specifications, as-built drawings, and much more. Many also work for builders and contractors, land developers, remodelers, facility and property managers, and building product manufacturers and retailers. Historically, the central Ohio market for architecture graduates has been very strong and improvements in the economy and in construction are being reflected in the architectural field.
