Wallace State's Agricultural Production and Sustainable Agriculture programs are designed to prepare students for various jobs in local agriculture, business, and industry. Students may find jobs in areas such as landscaping, forestry, aquaculture operations, conservation, and farming. Other potential opportunities include managing or owning a farm, greenhouse or nursery.

Employment opportunities are abundant in roles such as precision agriculture technicians, research scientist, crop specialists, etc., who work with soil testing companies, crop consulting firms, and fertilizer and chemical companies. Working in agriculture doesn't always mean farming. Farmers need help making important decisions about what crops to plant, what and how much chemicals to use, and how to improve yield. Precision ag graduates earn a two-year associate in applied science degree that allows them to go right to work helping to feed America!

The Ozarka College Associate of Applied Science Degree in Agriculture provides graduates of the program the knowledge and principles to manage their own agricultural operation or work in a variety of fields within the agriculture industry. The AAS in Agriculture is a two-year degree that provides students with foundational agriculture classes as well as providing a firm grounding in general education coursework needed in today’s agricultural marketplace.

The Environmental Horticulture degree prepares students for careers in landscape design, installation, and management as well as tree care, small-scale urban farming, greenhouse, and nursery production, golf course management, floriculture, and interiorscaping. The program emphasizes a combination of horticulture theory and hands-on practical application necessary for successful employment.

This program prepares students for a variety of careers in horse production including horse trainer, horse breeder, farrier, and small ranch operator. The program combines theory with practical skills needed for daily horse ranch operations. Students will learn the foundations of equine production practices as well as have hands-on experience working with ranch livestock. This degree is designed for students wishing to directly enter the workforce. It is not designed for transfer to a four-year institution, although some coursework may be transferable. Students who wish to transfer coursework are strongly encouraged to work closely with their TVCC advisor to develop a transfer plan and to identify and contact an advisor at their chosen transfer institution. A minimum of 90 credits and a minimum grade point average of 2.0 are needed to graduate with a degree.

The purpose of the FSCC Farm and Ranch Management Associates of Applied Science degree is to provide students with the basic skills and knowledge needed in different agriculture industry sectors. The curriculum suggested is for students planning to enter an agricultural career upon completing the FSCC two-year program.

We will prepare you to be a successful manager in our Livestock Management & Production program. You will easily transfer your hands-on training at our 900-acre livestock and land lab into a livestock manager responsible for running a business. Your learning experience is enhanced through our renowned cooperative internship program.

Students will learn the fundamentals of agriculture, focusing on crop production and business. Emphasis is placed on entrepreneurial and field training. Students will also learn the basic principles of our economic system and government policies and programs relating to agriculture.

The Horticulture Technology curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for various careers in horticulture. Classroom instruction and practical laboratory applications of horticultural principles and practices are included in the program of study.

The Agriculture & Natural Resources program provides instruction for those in need of training, retraining, or skills upgrading in agriculture and those wishing to transfer to a four-year college or university. Diverse learning activities are provided at facilities on Maui and Molokai.

The Field Crops option of the Agricultural Business Management Technology Program is designed to provide students with a common core of management skills and additional training related to field crops, weed, insect, and plant disease control.

This option provides career preparation in the skills needed to work in horticultural related service industries and wholesale and retail sales of horticultural products.

The Agri-Business A.A.S. program is designed to provide technical and business training for established local business enterprises and to increase their profitability and expand their customer base outside of the greater Jefferson-Lewis County areas with educated and well-trained staff.

The Agribusiness Technology curriculum is designed to provide the entrepreneurial and technical skills necessary to manage a profitable, environmentally sound, community-based small farm or agricultural business.

The Bioscience Technology associate degree prepares graduates to perform several biotechnology-related careers, including laboratory research, and skills to work in sophisticated biotechnology-manufacturing settings.
