The Associate of Science Business Administration degree program is 60 semester hours in duration. The program is made up of two components. The first consists of 24 semester credit hours of general education. All of the courses are required. The coursework in the general education component is designed to be broad-based and consists of coursework in areas such as the social sciences, mathematics, economics, English, and psychology. The second component is made up of 36 semester credit hours that provide a core of business management courses that are required for all students within the program. This business core component provides a strong emphasis on management, business law, ethics, human resources, marketing, advertising, and accounting among other business-related areas of study.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer Degree will help students develop communications, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students will also learn how to convey ideas skillfully and effectively in writing and presentations. Students who successfully complete the AS-T in Business Administration earn specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system: admission to a CSU with junior status and priority admission to a local CSU campus and to a program or major in business administration or a similar major. Students transferring to a CSU campus will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree.

This program is intended to prepare students for an international business career following graduation. Students wishing for a bachelor’s degree (transfer program) should consult with a counselor to discuss the transferability of courses.

This program prepares individuals to start and successfully operate their own businesses. The program focuses on the assessment of the market need, and the necessary skills for successful entry, operation and exit. It prepares individuals to develop an original business plan, a marketing plan and to evaluate their competitiveness in the market, and includes the initial analysis of a business idea to determine feasibility and start-up requirements. The program prepares individuals to perform the duties of planning, overseeing and directing business operations and employees as well as collecting, and analyzing data/information to identify potential product or service demand. Potential occupations include small business or franchise owner, economic developer, small business development specialist, or independent artist, trades worker, consultant, professional and contract outsource labor.

The Business Administration program provides students with the necessary courses to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a baccalaureate degree in business. This curriculum is fully compliant with Pennsylvania Statewide Program-to-Program Articulation Agreement (TAOC) as stated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

The curriculum provides essential knowledge and skills in the accounting, financial, economics, management, and marketing facets of the business. Students can pursue their interest in several specialized areas of business (global business, human resources management, project management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and business computing) through their choice of business electives.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer (AS-T) degree is designed to prepare students for a seamless transfer to the California State University (CSU) system. Successful completion of the degree affords students specific guarantees for transfer to the CSU system, such as admission to a CSU with junior status, priority admission to their local CSU campus, and to a program or major in business administration or similar major.

The Associate of Science degree program prepares you for Entry to Mid-Level Management positions in Administrative Services, Hospitality, Sales, Marketing, General Business, and Human Resources Management.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer (AS-T) is intended for students planning to transfer to a CSU with a major in Business Administration. Students completing this degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system.

The Business Administration program gives students general business knowledge in managerial controls, economics of business, human resources (personnel), labor relations, business risks, interaction of government and business law, production and distribution. They provide the foundations for areas of specialization, such as accounting, finance, or marketing management.

The college credit certificate program is designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to start, operate, and/or improve a small business. Business Management, AS Certificate classes will be scheduled to accommodate the needs of individuals already working in the business world.

The Associate of Science degree in Business Administration provides students with a general business curriculum including coursework in each of the content areas of business. Students are strongly urged to obtain an Associate degree prior to continuing on to earn a bachelor's degree and transferring to another school.

HCCC's Associate in Science in Business Administration prepares graduates for a seamless transfer to a senior institution to complete a baccalaureate degree in business-related fields. Graduates of this degree are also qualified for entry-level administrative and management positions.
