Cellular agriculture seeks to advance tissue engineering for the production of affordable, nutritious, protein-rich foods. Researchers and manufacturers translate cellular agriculture research into food industry innovation that has positive environmental and societal benefits. The interdisciplinary program is administered by the Department of Biomedical Engineering with collaboration from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.

Therefore, agriculture finance is a significant part of the finance sector. Farmers and agro-enterprises need loans, insurance, leasing, and many other financial services to do well. Financial institutions seek qualified employees who understand the financial needs of farmers and agribusinesses, the dynamics of the agricultural sector, and the role of finance in agricultural value chains. The “Certified Expert in Agricultural Finance” online course covers a wide range of agriculture finance topics. Participants will gain a broad perspective on the concept of agricultural finance and acquire the necessary skills to design feasible operations, products, and delivery channels. One focus of the course will be on lending to farmers and agribusinesses, in particular how to manage risks and costs along the entire loan cycle. This course is based on Frankfurt School’s extensive experience in practical project work and theoretical education programs, and it is tailored to the needs of our target audience.

If you’re interested in studying agriculture, but you only want to commit to a year, then our General Agriculture Certificate program, offered through a brand new partnership with Lakeland College is for you! Our certificate program offers a specific concentration on crop production. The courses offered will allow you to master fundamental skills that are essential for modern agricultural operations, including computer training, keeping accurate business records, and using up-to-date and innovative technology. Skills specific to crop production will involve you in practical field skills used to identify plants and weeds and assess a variety of pest problems. Upon completion of your certificate program, you will also be given the option to transfer into year two of Lakeland’s Crop Technology Diploma program, offered on its Vermilion campus. The diploma program will allow you to gain knowledge and skills through agronomy, production, precision farming, and financial management classes while being immersed in a hands-on experience through industry practicum or Lakeland’s student-managed farm. Whether you choose the acquisition of your certificate as your exit point or choose to continue on to the diploma program, you will find yourself prepared to contribute to a farming operation or to work in the retail agriculture sector.

Manitoba Agriculture requires at least one individual per landscape or golf course company to be certified in IPM. A current Pesticide Landscape/Golf Applicator license is also mandatory. IPM online exams are now available for certification. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) provides green space managers with the knowledge to achieve an acceptable level of pest control in a cost-effective and aseptically pleasing way while minimizing the use of pesticides. Members of the landscape and golf course industries in Manitoba initiated the IPM certification program, which is meant to formally recognize industry qualifications and promote ongoing IPM education. The program was jointly developed by the Manitoba Golf Superintendents Association (MGSA), Landscape Manitoba, Assiniboine Community College, and Manitoba Agriculture and Manitoba Conservation & Water Stewardship. Manitoba Agriculture requires at least one individual per landscape or golf course company to be certified in IPM. A current Pesticide Applicator licence is also recommended.

Graduates of the Nursery/Greenhouse Technician certificate program are employable as entry-level positions in the nursery, landscape, or agricultural industry. Instruction and practical application of learned skills provide a broad occupational background that appeals to prospective employers.

This entry-level qualification provides individuals with the opportunity to develop a general vocational outcome in agriculture.

Agricultural Science involves the study of the science and technology underlying the principles and practices of agriculture.

Cannabis agriculture is a complex but rewarding process. One that takes insightful understanding to achieve successful results. This program provides both novice and experienced growers with the accurate information needed to effectively engage in production, management, and cultivation of cannabis, hemp, and other dioecious plants. In the past, cannabis horticulture has been stigmatized, with a lack of industry standards resulting in misinformation. Here, you’ll have access to accurate and informative learnings from expert growers, as you develop a portfolio of work and earn a credible cannabis qualification. In six months, you’ll study cannabis botany and genetics and explore plant growth techniques. As you gain experience, you’ll elect to specialize in the indoor or outdoor grow track with immersive and experiential learning opportunities to work hands-on with cannabis, hemp, or dioecious plants. Growing a cannabis plant is not required for this program. Students are expected to abide by their local laws and regulations. Other dioecious plants, such as the stinging nettles, are options for the portfolio / hands-on experience components.

The Agronomy Certificate is offered to help producers or aspiring agriculturalists learn skills and techniques that will help them become successful agriculturalists in the areas of crops and soils. This certificate may be of interest if you want to be more involved with agriculture and enjoy working outside with your hands.

The Agriculture Business option at Kaskaskia College emphasizes the business side of agriculture.

The University Certificate in Agricultural Leadership is a 12-credit undergraduate program designed for individuals interested in leadership. Students have opportunities to develop the skills, competencies and theoretical understandings necessary to work independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively, solve problems, and understand basic organizational concepts.

The proposed Cannabis Industry Certificate is designed to provide students with applicable skills and knowledge to work professionally in Cannabis cultivation, processing, preparation, retail, and outreach.
