Introduction
Traditional narrative and filmmaking face exciting challenges in conceiving from new paradigms, from linear to non-linear narrative and from screen to multi-screen and space.
Mastery of 3D tools and techniques, and knowledge of media and supports are essential, but so are developing analytical skills, idealization and formalization, and understanding the context to translate messages into memorable experiences and carry out projects in which the execution shines with its light.
With an eminently practical approach (exercises and projects are carried out under the supervision of specialized professors), the Postgraduate Degree in Motion 3D applies project methodologies such as Design Thinking and Agile Development, in addition to professional management and production resources and processes.
The program is divided into six modules that take place in workshops, technology classes and audiovisual culture sessions; and concludes with a final postgraduate project that is presented to a panel.
This postgraduate course is aimed at graduates in Design, Audiovisual Communication, Film, Advertising and/or Fine Arts, and professionals without specific qualifications who can prove experience in any of these fields.
Admissions
Curriculum
Module 1 – Technologies
This module focuses on and develops knowledge and handling of 3D modelling and animation tools – Cinema 4D – and delves into the use and mastery of digital editing and composition as a fundamental support for the construction of the narrative and the audiovisual experience.
- Operating bases.
- Modeling and animation.
- Texturing and rendering.
- Integration into digital composition.
- Design and resolution of the production process.
- Deeper use of the tool and advanced resources.
Module 2 – Audiovisual culture
This module examines the main references of contemporary audiovisual culture from the new digital space, analyzing styles and trends and the application of 3D motion in the development of new projects.
- On-demand content vs. traditional cinema/TV.
- From linear narrative to message fragmentation.
- New XR immersive technologies: AR / VR / MR.
- AI as an information search engine and content generator.
Module 3 – Animation Workshop
Based on the analysis of the basic concepts of animation, the main objective of this workshop is to work on the creation and development of a stop-motion piece, which will help raise awareness of both space and light in three dimensions, as well as the foundations of animation.
- Basic principles of animation.
- References and resources.
- Creation and development of an animated graphic proposal emphasizing the use and mastery of stop-motion animation.
- Project methodology and production process.
Module 4 – Typography workshop in space/time
A workshop to learn about the reference fonts in the audiovisual field and their behaviour in space/time, analyzing references and styles through works and applications for multi-screen.
- Typography as an element of communication. Fundamentals and main examples and trends. Expressive possibilities.
- Typography on screen. References, examples, behaviours and restrictions.
- Typography on screen: Functional and emotional aspects
- Kinetic Typography: The Typographic Narrative in the Media
- Uses of motion graphics in typographic design.
- Creation and development of an animated graphic proposal emphasizing the use and mastery of typography in space/time.
- Project methodology and production process.
Module 5 – Communication Workshop
- The objective of this workshop is to analyze the bases of communication and audiovisual promotion of a brand and to train in the use and mastery of representation codes and their application through 3D animated graphics exercises.
- Fundamental principles of audiovisual identity.
- Representation resources and narrative structures.
- Rhythm and editing.
- Creation and development of an animated graphic identity proposal emphasizing the use and mastery of visual and sound metaphors,
- Project methodology and production process.
Module 6 - Creation and production techniques
This module has a double objective. On the one hand, the imaginative construction of an attractive and persuasive discourse for the development of a piece of personal creation. And on the other, solving the problems of real image production on set and its digital integration using 2D and 3D representation, and chroma is a technical requirement. Thus, it includes two workshops: CV Abstraction and Camera / Lighting.
- CV Abstraction Workshop: This is a fundamentally practical workshop, but as a reinforcement to the development of the exercise, references and theoretical content will be analyzed.
- Camera/lighting workshop: The main objective of this workshop is to learn the basics of cinematographic language – from the shot to the sequence – the basic principles of lighting and the use of a video camera.
Module 7 - Final Graduate Project
