Students must complete a Minimum of 11 credits in this program at Fanshawe College to meet the Program Residency requirement and graduate from this program
Program Outcome
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, including record labels, publishers, and media outlets, to advance an artist's career.
- Develop and implement marketing and promotion strategies across multiple media platforms to build an artist's sonic brand and increase their profile and fan base.
- Develop and implement a business plan including forecasting revenue and expenses for a professional musician, management company or artist development company to confirm viability.
- Adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks, including copyright, music licensing, contract requirements, and industry codes of conduct, to ensure compliance and avoid liability issues.
- Manage budgets and financial records for all aspects of music industry activities to maximize profits and minimize risks.
- Identify and access public and private sources of capital to support music business plans.
- Provide creative leadership within a project team to market an artist or new music.
- Analyze and interpret music industry trends and data to inform strategic decision-making in the development of promotional media products for artist branding.
- Apply negotiation, effective interpersonal communication, and human resource management skills to establish and maintain effective working relations.
- Collaborate with artists, producers, engineers, songwriters, and other industry professionals to create high-quality recordings that meet artistic and commercial goals.
- Planned, managed, rehearsed, and staged live events, such as concerts and tours, ensuring smooth and successful productions while maximizing revenue.
- Utilize sound, video, and lighting technologies in the production of live events to create an engaging audience experience and increase the artist's fan base.
