Introduction
The Information Technology Infrastructure one-year graduate program is beneficial for students who have previous education in IT and are looking to advance their skills to prepare for the workforce.
Your Learning Experience
This program is designed to help graduate students with an IT background step into the industry. Information technology workers need a broad range of practical skills to utilize in their everyday responsibilities. As a student in this program, you will bring your previous understanding of information technology and enhance your skills by learning how you can apply your knowledge within the workforce.
Graduate employability is significantly enhanced by in-depth training in a broad range of technical and personable skills that are in high demand across various industries. As a graduate of this program, you will be prepared to enter an exciting career as an IT Infrastructure/Operations Manager, IT Infrastructure Service Manager, or IT Infrastructure Director.
The Information Technology Infrastructure Ontario College Graduate Certificate will focus on the practices and skills currently being used in support of the IT infrastructure. Students will gain valued knowledge and experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems, Windows server administration, virtualization technologies, and network and security devices. Students will also have the opportunity to develop communication, interpersonal, project management, and business skills to work effectively in the corporate world.
The program will include hands-on applications and simulations to provide students with marketable skills in operating systems, networks, and security and will contribute to preparing the graduate to write a variety of professional certification exams.

Program Residency
Students Must Complete a Minimum of 11 credits in the Program at Fanshawe to meet the Program Residency requirement and Graduate from this Program.
Program Outcome
- Analyze and resolve enterprise information technology infrastructure (EITI) problems through the application of systematic approaches and diagnostic tools;
- Determine business and stakeholder requirements for EITI solutions;
- Participate as a member of a team, in the design, delivery, expansion, and continual improvement of EITI solutions;
- Use industry best practices, principles in project management, and lifecycle management to successfully administer EITI solutions;
- Automate routine tasks, baseline systems performance, and assess resource utilization using a variety of tools;
- Participate as a member of a team to ensure the availability and integrity of information in enterprise data storage solutions;
- Participate as a member of a team in the design and implementation of security by applying security protocols and knowledge of industry conformance practices;
- Appraise existing security solutions in light of ongoing maintenance, conformance practices, and continual improvement of organizational security;
- Articulate, defend, and conform to service delivery expectations found in information technology environments;
- Implement personal and professional development strategies to improve job performance and promote professional growth.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of Fanshawe’s Information Technology Infrastructure program will be employed in the computer support field as desktop, and application support technicians, computer technicians or help desk technicians.
