Introduction
Hibbing Community College offers a Law Enforcement Diploma Program for students who have already been awarded an Associate Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution. This three-semester program offers the academic and skills needed to become a licensed peace officer. This diploma program prepares students to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) exam and start careers in state, municipal, and county law enforcement agencies, as well as State and Federal government agencies!
Training includes criminal learning procedure, State statutes, defence tactics, proper firearm handling, emergency driving techniques, proper professional conduct, a criminal investigation, and crime scene processing.
The law enforcement program at H.C.C. is held in an academy-style setting, where cadets abide by the department rules and have one of two active on-campus indoor firing ranges.
Law enforcement departments (state, municipal, and county) have the continual need for well-trained and highly skilled officers. State and federal government agencies need highway patrol, treasury agents, F.B.I., immigration, security guards, and conservation agents.
