Introduction
This course is for you if you enjoy watching a wide variety of films and learning about the art and craft of film making.
This course is part of our Creative Arts Academy.
This course would combine well with any course which is part of our Creative Arts Academy. Alternatively, students are currently taking it with Modern Languages, Government & Politics, Law, Psychology, and Sociology.
This course will allow you to analyze a range of interesting and challenging films using different critical approaches.
You will explore:
1 classical and 1 new Hollywood film
1 mainstream and 1 independent American film from 2005 onwards
2 British films from 1995 onwards
1 European film and 1 film produced outside of Europe
1 documentary film
1 silent film or group of films
Experimental film
You will also be able to create your own short film or screenplay.
Many universities offer Film Studies as a full-time course should you wish to take these studies further. Film Studies will also provide you with the analytical and creative skills necessary to embark on a wide range of other degree courses.
