How to Apply

High school diploma/school leaving certificate:
Don’t have your final certificate yet? No problem! Simply provide a transcript of records including all grades given to date and you can submit your final school leaving certificate later.

Proof of English language proficiency (minimum B2 level) and
Proof of German language proficiency (minimum A2 level)

Planning to join us? Here’s what you need to know:

International applicants: Apply by May 31st (recommended March 31st)

Important for international students: The visa process can take up to two months after acceptance by KLU, and there’s plenty to organize for your study abroad journey. That’s why we recommend applying as early as possible—ideally by March 31st and no later than May 31st.

We’re here to support you every step of the way, but some tasks—like securing your visa and planning travel—are up to you. Starting early will make it much easier!

If you’re confident about your eligibility, apply directly for the Business Foundations Program. Our Admissions Team will review your application for both the Business Foundations Program and the Bachelor program. If you meet the requirements, you’ll be admitted to both programs.

A non-refundable application fee of €50 is required for all applicants. We’ll process and review your application as soon as all required documents and the application fee are submitted. You’ll receive a decision from the Board of Admissions within 6–8 weeks.

Studienkolleg Program with a W-Kurs Curriculum

Full-time preparatory course (W-Kurs) for students that do not meet the criteria to study in Germany (you are welcome to first do an initial check on the DAAD website).

German language course A1, leading up to assessment test*

German language course A2, leading up to assessment test**

English language course, leading to C1 assessment test**

*Students may be eligible for a shortened program if they can prove at least A1 German language.

** Students who can prove A2 German and/or C1 English language by June 30th, could be eligible for a lighter course load.

"My name is Giovana, I am from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Before starting my bachelor's at KLU, I took part in the KLU Preparation Program (Studienkolleg in German). The program lasted for one year and it is required by the German government for most international students wanting to study at a German university. In this program, I gained basic knowledge of economics, mathematics, and geopolitics. It was a good introduction to the German approach to academia, and the knowledge I acquired there has helped me during my lectures."
