Introduction
A practical, engaging and creative course where you will examine the work of drama practitioners, explore a range of drama as a practical art form, and work independently to create your own performances.
You will be given a thorough grounding on the basics of performing and experience the innovative styles of playwrights, directors, actors, and companies. You will develop and demonstrate a range of theatre making skills and experience a range of opportunities to create theatre, both published text-based and devised work.
In the first year most lessons will be practical and, as the live performances are assessed, there will be extra rehearsals outside of lessons. Homework will be researching specific practitioners, learning lines and rehearsing. Part of the second year involves working on a devised piece to perform to an external examiner. Assessment Two of the components are performance based worth 60% of the qualification, and with completion of a creative log and an evaluation report. The third component is exam based and is worth 40%.
