Introduction
These programmes aim to produce highly-skilled graduates, innovative new products and knowledge through courses, programmes, community and research projects designed for this purpose.
The programmes also actively engage many of these and other graduates in innovation, utilizing the envisaged WSU science and technology campus, commonly referred to as the TechnoPark, to generate marketable new knowledge and products and further incubate them generate profitable small, micro and medium enterprises.
- In this way, the programmes will gradually move away from the philosophy of focusing on the generation of highly-skilled graduates that are released as job seekers into the public and private sectors towards the philosophy of generating small and medium micro-enterprises, and these will migrate into the private sector as job creators.
Concomitantly, these programmes will also maintain a high level of research unit productivity and, therefore, help to shift WSU from the traditional focus to the production of highly-skilled graduates to proliferate new knowledge through research units.
Of course, as part of its commitment to the career needs of the communities and industries that it serves, the programmes will continue its tradition of producing highly-skilled graduates who will take up high-level positions in the public and private sectors.
