ARSUTORIA School has been organizing shoes and bags design and pattern making courses since 1947, courses globally recognized as the best ones to become fashion designers, able to combine design talent with technical knowledge of shoes and bags models. ARSUTORIA is the world leading school for fashion training, focused on shoes and bags pattern making and design. The uniqueness of ARSUTORIA courses is given by its teachers, highly specialized professionals designers and pattern makers, with years of experience in the field of footwear, and its ARSUTORIA method, that allows students to learn easily and quickly the best techniques to realize shoes and bags models and prototypes. ARSUTORIA Institute includes also a dormitory for the students and a sample room: the only design school in the center of Milan, Italian fashion capital, able to realize shoe prototypes completely in-house.

HISTORY

Adriano Lunati ARSSUTORIA

Ars Sutoria School has been organizing courses in the field of shoes and bags since 1947. At that time courses were organized only in Italy and they were intended to train footwear pattern makers of the factories located in the area of Milan. In 1965 the school moved the classes to the building where we still organize our courses. Adriano Lunati was born on 27th April 1924 at Castel San Pietro di Camino in Piedmont. His shoemaker father decided to make him study at the Salesian school, where he obtained a diploma learning the shoemaking trade. At the end of the Second World War he worked in one of the footwear factories in Casale as a cutter until, in 1948, he met Giuseppe Muggiani, founder of the Ars Sutoria Editorial Group and School, and moved to Milan as a teacher. After that, he trained generations and generations of now renowned pattern makers and for 53 years he designed and created an incalculable number of shoes.

COURSE OFFERING

Courses in Milan

Classes in Milan are still our most important activity. Profile and background of the students have changed along the years: we keep on training pattern makers and technical developers but now a significative part of our students have a design background and few of them – usually second or third generation of entrepreneurs – have business administration degrees. Reasons for choosing our courses are:

  • We still focus on the technical development of shoes and bags which is a fundamental background for those that work in this fields
  • Courses are short-term (maximum 15 weeks), full time intensive
  • Environment is international and language spoken is English
  • Students do not need a specific background to attend classes even if courses are masters level
  • Currently, we have students coming from Italy, United States, Germany, Spain, Hong Kong and China, India.

Bag Collection Design Course

Campus Full time 4 weeks June 2019 Italy Milan

The main objective of the Bag Collection Design four-weeks course is to immerse participants in the process of creative development of a collection of bags. The course is targeted to students graduated in fashion schools, to professionals already working in the field of bags (both in bag brands or retailers) and to profiles with different backgrounds who intend to explore the possibility to pursue a career in the bag industry. The main objective of the Bag Collection Design four-weeks course is to immerse participants in the process of creative development of a collection of bags. The course is targeted to students graduated in fashion schools, to professionals already working in the field of bags (both in bag brands or retailers) and to profiles with different backgrounds who intend to explore the possibility to pursue a career in the bag industry.

The first part of the course is dedicated to hand sketching and digital drawing, in order to give the students the basic tools to design and handbag collection. It is more important than ever to develop collections that are both commercially viable and efficient in terms of production. A new collection will have success if the new fashion trends are interpreted, construed and adapted to the specific competitive scenario and with an eye on business efficiency (investments in facilities, production costs). For young designers who decide to launch their own line, technicians and pattern-makers that feel the need for a better understanding of market dynamics, or product managers from structured companies with a tradition, the purpose of the course is to understand the handbag collection development process through the identification of a precise target audience, consistency between the supply of the product and the distribution channel, the correct price positioning and an appropriate choice of production processes and supply of materials....
