Hungry Creek offers you the opportunity to study and develop your creative abilities in a unique and stimulating environment.
The areas of study available are Painting, Jewellery, Ceramics, Sculpture, Drawing, Design, Art History and Computer-Aided Design for Jewellery.
Students come to Hungry Creek to become artists, craftspeople, designers, and teachers or to gain employment with associated industries. There is a strong emphasis on technical skills which are taught in the fully equipped jewelry, sculpture, painting and ceramics studios. Class sizes are limited to 15-20 students enabling individual attention from tutors. The school has been offering New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved qualifications since 1990 and now offers five NZQA approved qualifications. Students are entitled to the same loans and allowances as University and Polytechnic students. We welcome students of all ages and cultures as we believe everyone has something to offer.
Our Mission is to provide a unique, artistically challenging and stimulating environment to assist students in their professional and creative development. Encourage you to be innovative rather than imitative. Foster a culture of support amongst the staff, students, and graduates. Make every effort to accommodate the individuals learning style and mode of creative expression and to provide training in a manner that best suits their needs.
