Tongmyong University was established in 1977 by the parent corporation, Tongmyong Lumber, which was one of the leaders in the industrialization of the Republic of Korea in the 1960s and 70s.

The educational goal of Tongmyong University is based on specialized knowledge and technology to cultivate human resources, and we strive to achieve a high standard of industry-university cooperation to be applied in the local, national, and international corporations. The vision of Tongmyong University is to develop student-centered programs, aiming at the national and global opportunities of today, and the future.
